A Key supplier of access solutions to all sectors of the construction industry

Her Majesty's Prison, Exeter

PROJECT NAME:

Her Majesty’s Prison Exeter
Interserve Project Services Ltd

DESCRIPTION:

The project required us to provide a fully waterproof enclosure to allow re-roofing and refurbishment of the (live) re-settlement building at Exeter Prison

The project value is £2m

The buildings are listed and have to remain occupied and its operations, including sophisticated computer systems, must be un-interrupted.

SCAFFOLDING CHALLENGES:

Due to the security implications involved in the project there was a requirement to ensure that a minimum of scaffolding came to ground, therefore there was a great deal of beam work bridging between towers.

The temporary roof structure was a Haki 750 roll-out system.  The roll-out system provides a safe method of work during the erection and dismantle process which was very important to all parties concerned with the project.

The Haki roof also provides a well proven and extremely water tight solution which was essential given the amount of electronic equipment to be protected.

WINNING THE CONTRACT:

Apex Scaffolding worked with Interserve throughout the consultation period to provide a robust and cost effective solution.  The package was eventually won on competitive tender basis and we are currently working on the project with Project Manager Adrian Crosbie following on immediately from his previous contract – again working with Apex Scaffolding.

IN A NUTSHELL:

This was a high profile, technically difficult project which allowed us to demonstrate the full range of our abilities.
